Welcome to the CROP BOOSTERS website

CROP BOOSTERS (Biotechnology-based solutions for crop stress mitigation), a project funded under the 2nd Green ERA-Hub call and launched in May 2025, will validate the effectiveness of plant cell-based biostimulants (BS) and terrestrial cyanobacteria-derived biofertilizers (BF) in enhancing drought tolerance in tomato plants. The project will also investigate, for the first time,  the use of plant-derived nanovesicles and extracellular vesicles in crop stress protection. CROP BOOSTERS is driven by the need for sustainable agricultural solutions, as climate change and population growth intensify pressure on food systems.

The overarching aim of CROP BOOSTERS is to understand the mode of action of the produced BS and BF, as well as to develop guidelines that outline best practices and recommendations for the use of such bio-based products.

CROP BOOSTERS will be showcased in Valencia at Biostimulants Europe 2026 (4th-5th of February 2026), more info in the News section (here).
